I have lived in North Carolina since 1972 when my husband, Jim, and our 3 kids moved here. Prior to that we had lived in Homestead, Florida for 2 years while Jim completed his tour of duty with the Airforce, and then to Lakewood, Colorado from 1965 - 1972. My husband of 42 wonderful years died in September, 2005. I still miss him terribly - but having my 3 adult children and their families close by has really helped. I have 7 terrific grandchildren ages 8 years old to 24 years old, and 2 beautiful great-grandchildren, age 3 years old and 2 weeks old. I absolutely love being a Grandma!
For the past 28 years I have worked in the Criminal Justice field providing services in the community for high-risk offenders. I worked for the State of NC for 15 years, and then started my own company in 1995 to provide substance abuse treatment, employment and training services for high-risk adult and juvenile offenders in a 4 county area. A couple of years later my 3 children joined the business with me. We now employee 65 people and operate 2 Treatment Centers in Western NC. I really love the work I do, and I've especially enjoyed the opportunities I have had to see my 3 children excel in their choosen professions first hand! I never would have believed a "family business" could bring so much joy!
I will not be able to attend this reunion, but hope to be there in 5 years for the big 50 Reunion! Hope you all have a great time!
