I attended CSU and earned a degree in Political Science in 1967. I was then accepted and trained as a US Peace Corps Volunteer and lived the next three years in the village of Dom Aquino in the far west of Brazil, working as the county agricultural agent in an area newly opened to homesteading. I returned to the US and received a Master's Degree in Economic Development from CSU in 1972, emigrated to Michigan and passed the next six years managing county economic development and industrual development corporations. In 1979 I dropped out to become a back-to-the-land, self-sufficient farmer at the Straits of Mackinaw, Michigan and enjoyed the next ten years cutting forest, clearing fields, constructing a house, planting crops and raising livestock. After the first few years I learned that making any money in agriculture is difficult, so I accepted employment in town as manager of the local chamber of commerce, somehow found myself elected Township Supervisor, then County Commissioner. In 1987 I organized a company to design and manage economic development projects for small cities overseas, and for the next twelve years commuted back and forth to South America. From 2000 to 2006 I again dropped out, this time to become the care giver to a parent with Alzheimer's desease. I am currently retired.
